A New Service-Oriented On-Set Playback & Motion Graphics Solution for Film, Television & Commercials
June 11, 2026 — Budapest — After successfully wrapping on Maigret Season 2, a PBS MASTERPIECE production working with Paprika Studios in Budapest, OnScreen is now accepting expressions of interest from productions seeking new on-set screen solutions in the region.
Announced earlier this year by Kraft Rental and Ionart Studios, OnScreen combines on-set hardware infrastructure with content creation and real-time playback technology. The result is a service built by production people, for production people. Reliable, creative, and ready from prep through final pixel.
Maigret Season 2 marked OnScreen's operational debut. A MASTERPIECE PBS and Playground co-production in association with Banijay Entertainment and Windhover Films, the series is Executive Produced and showrun by Patrick Harbinson, three-time Primetime Emmy nominee for Homeland and ER, and filmed in Budapest with Paprika Studios. Starring Benjamin Wainwright, it is one of the most anticipated detective dramas of the year. A contemporary adaptation of Georges Simenon's beloved novels, the series carries a global fanbase and a legacy stretching back to Jean Gabin on the big screen. Season 1 is streaming now on the PBS app and PBS MASTERPIECE on Prime Video.
Over a 19-day shoot managing 13 monitor screens across monitors, laptops, tablets, and phones, OnScreen was put through its paces in a live production environment. A shared workflow with the art director and production team enabled real-time collaboration throughout, and the feedback spoke for itself.
"Without a doubt the most enthusiastic team on the project. The OnScreen team brought the same energy on the last day as they did on the first. Flexible, reliable, and always ready with a solution." — Adrienn Galamb, Supervising Art Director, Maigret Season 2
At the core of the OnScreen offering is a hybrid PC control system that allows seamless handoffs between actor and operator control of on-screen content in real time. Previous solutions required a choice between fully actor-controlled or fully operator-controlled setups. OnScreen eliminates that constraint, giving directors and actors the flexibility they need without interrupting the flow of a take.
When Maigret Season 2 returns to PBS, you'll see OnScreen's work on screen.
Beyond the dedicated professional team, OnScreen is guided by an Advisory Committee of trusted industry relations helping ensure consistent quality and a service model shaped by real production needs. The service is further supported internationally through the SurrealArts Group creative collective.
OnScreen is now accepting expressions of interest from productions shooting in Hungary and beyond. The service operates Hungary-wide with a primary focus on Budapest, and is available for international productions where schedule and budget allow.
OnScreen is represented in Hungary by Benjamin Patkai, COO of Kraft Rental, and in the United States and international markets by Executive Producer Mark A.J. Nazal.
